How To Cover Dark Undereye Circles

How To Cover Dark Under Eye Circles

Glitter Guide contributor, Erin Sousa, always has the inside scoop on how to put our best faces forward. Today, she’s focusing on how to battle pesky undereye circles. Her top three defense tactics are below!

Whether you’ve had a late night out or just didn’t get all the sleep you need (beauty sleep is serious business!), the dark circle struggle is real. Each of these products work in different ways to get your dark circles under wraps. My three-step, three-product process below is your cheat sheet to banishing them in a jiff.

How To Cover Dark Under Eye Circles

1. Color Correction

Think of this step as your eraser. The color correction is a peach (orange) tone, which counteracts the blue or purple hue under the eyes, and acts as the perfect canvas for your actual concealer. Apply the creamy pencil all over the undereye area—including the inner nose bridge, which is often overlooked—and blend well. Smashbox Color Correcting Stick is weightless and super smooth.

2. Conceal

Now it’s time to go in with the big guns. Concealer is what, as the name suggests, conceals imperfections. Apply all over the undereye area, including the inner corner of the eye, and tap with your ring finger to blend. Wiping the concealer on will disturb your color-correcting base. Look for a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skintone to add lightness and brightness to the area! We’re using NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, which gives natural-looking coverage.

3. Brighten

Your last step is one that can’t be missed, and it is the one that will make you look wide awake: the highlight. There are those days when we need a little extra boost (I call those “every days”), and that’s when a good highlighter comes into play. A highlighter product will bring light-reflecting particles to the darkest areas of the undereye. Brushing the product into the hollow or darkest shadow of the eye will create the optical illusion of radiance, lifting any residual shadow.
