Chrome 55 for Android update adds support for downloading music, videos, and webpages

A few months ago, Google teased a new Chrome feature that’d let you download web pages, music, videos, and photos in your browser. And after going through beta testing that feature is now rolling out to everyone.

Google is now pushing Chrome 55 (55.0.2883.84) for Android. This update adds the ability to download music, videos, and full webpages for offline viewing, ensuring that you’ve got something to look at or listen to if you lose your internet connection. To use it, just tap the three-button icon in the upper right corner of your browser window, then hit the button with the down arrow.

This update also includes the ability to share your downloads within Chrome, see misspelled words highlighted in text fields, and some improvements to contextual search UI. There are some performance, memory, and stability fixes thrown in there, too.

Chrome 55 for Android is now rolling out, so if Chrome is your browser of choice, keep an eye out for the update.
